Lovers, collaborators, partners in all things,
a couple of songwriters from the Midwest arrive in the Big City. GREETINGS FROM YORKVILLE is a musical love story
about trying again, and again, and again
Show Business Meets Real Life, in Song
"There is no hardier theme in musical theater than the story of the ingénue trying to break into the cold, cruel world of showbiz. The latest entry in the lists, Greetings From Yorkville, by Anya Turner and Robert Grusecki, at the SoHo Playhouse, puts a reality-show spin upon this familiar subject. This time it's the autobiographical story of a struggling team of songwriters trying to get a foothold on the big time, performed by the people who wrote and lived it." - The New York Times
GREETINGS FROM YORKVILLE opened Off-Broadway at the SoHo Playhouse October 4, 2007. Music and lyrics by Robert Grusecki; lyrics and book by Anya Turner; directed by Thommie Walsh; special thanks to Baayork Lee; scenic design by Jesse Poleshuck; costume design by Dona Granata; lighting design by Natasha Katz; sound design by David Stollings; artwork by Robert Risko.
This two-character musical was named finalist for the 2006 Richard Rodgers Award by the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
